gatetohell is, after being years a tourbooking company, nowadays a backline rental.
we do nothing but rent out gear. this is what we are best at.
we also do have very good contacts for van / nightliner and driver services.

so, gatetohell was founded by unsucesful bass player robert dietrich years ago from the ashes of a record company and booking agency he had with some partners. being on the road for a long time, and attendending to more than 1000 (thatīs right, one thousand) shows, he realized that most gear rental was done in an overpriced and / or unprofessional manner.
it came in handy, that he worked in a music store and learned to fix gear, so he ran gateohell side by side with his part time job in the music store.
all money made was spent into gatetohell, nothing for his own, so that he started with one 15" bass cabinet (still in rental, of course) and is now at seventeen ampeg 8x10 cabinets. same as the drums, gatetohell still owns and rents out the tama rockstars (now with a new finish ply) that have been on the first tours.
the yamaha t-100 guitar head, owned by robert since forever (and he played bass through) is still in the backline company, it is just now acompanied by about sixteen fender twin reverbs or the army of fourty marshall heads.
later in the history, robert employed his girlfriend as bookkeeping crew, she is also doing the taxes.
finally, robert hired his long time fellow thilo as warehouse manager, giving himself more time to look after cool gear and keeping things fixed.
nowadays, gatetohell is looking to establish a berlin embassy. we are eco-friendly, running the company and office on efficient engines and nuclear power free and co2 neutral. we will keep going, trying to make touring for your band as successful and easy as possible.

totally. definately a thought. something like euro-backline-rent or best-backline-ever.com would make more sense
to sound more serious about what weīre doing.
it is just, it just sounds more serious. it does not prove anything. even worse, there are big corporations like deutsche bank
or daimler-mercedes-benz, that spend billions every year to sound more serious - and fire thousands of people every year
for more profit. and there is a lot of super serious real estate companies that went bankrupt in the past two years despite
their super serious names and letterings and marketing ideas.
so, gatetohell is gatetohell. i can name my company how i like it, thatīs punk rock.

with about seventy drumkits to choose from, an army of marshall cabinets (itīs fourty of them) or more than one hundred twenty tube amplifiers we
have something to offer that is not close to your sound but exactly what you look for. you did not buy any guitar head at home, you carefully
selected your amplifier, cabinet and all that to get the sound you like. same as drums. you exactly looked for that specific kit, to get that sound
you wanted. thatīs why thereīs a zillion drums and amps and cabinets. and weīre here to cater to that point. we get you as close as you are at
home. we do have the gear, and we can fullfill your requests by 100%.
- caring matters more
as we do have so many amps, there will be always a spare amp with you. noone, even not us, can say when a fuse breaks. tubes are ike
lightbulbs, and despite that fact that we change them regulary, we cannot know when and why a tube breaks. thatīs why thereīs always
a spare amp free of charge. then, we do have a 24/7 roadside assistance. we do have a lot of service partners that fix our gear and you donīt
even have to pay for it. they bill to us, it is that easy. or, if you are that far away from any of those people, we UPS overnight spare tubes or even
whole amplifiers to the next show.

so, if you sit behind that drumkit, it looks like new. all hardware is duct-tape free and fully funtional. there are no broken resonant heads and there is
no dirt or sweat from the previous user on the gear. we clean our gear whenever it comes back from tour. we wipe off the beer-stains from
the amplifiers and we shampoo the flightcases. this is a matter of respect to the artist. nothing less. if you rent a car, you donīt want to sit in
the pizza remainders of the guys who had it before, or you donīt want to empty the ashtray. our gear is always clean.
so, now it is up to you to compare our service to the service of our competitors.

this is unique, and allows us to fix an amp faster and better than anyone else in the business.
we also carry a lot of the vintage parts (or we know where to get them) so that we can make or rebuild an
amp like it left the factory in the seventies / sixties / whenever.
also, with new amps, we do major test runs before we send them on the road.
with that much gear, we know where the critical points are and fix those before
problems can occur.
same goes with drums. we do have all the spare parts in stock, so we can fix our drumkits
in minutes.
we currently stock more than one thousand drum heads and more than five hundred tubes.
for best sound, we only run tube amp doctor tubes in our amplifiers.
